Un/Still
Gagné Contemporary Projects, Toronto — September 11–21, 2025
Un/Still was a collaborative exhibition with photographer James Andrew Rosen. The show explored fragility and resilience through two distinct but resonant practices.
My work traced rupture and renewal, using the act of photographing as both witness and guide through transformation. I divided the space into thee sections - a dreamlike “before”, a decision-point “during, and an explosion of light, “after”. Each section was separated by translucent hanging “photo lessons” that revealed a self-portrait. Rosen’s work, drawn from his photobook Aphasia, engaged with impermanence, decay, and the nonlinear process of healing after trauma. Installed as a deconstructed environment wrapping the gallery space, his work invited visitors to step inside his book.
Presented together, the exhibition created a dialogue about journeys shaped by rupture — diverging in different directions yet connected by shared themes.
We had a really enthusiastic opening. I was so grateful for the opportunity to share this work publicly, and for the conversations that helped clarify what resonates most: imagery that holds a sense of mystery and resists easy explanation.
Un/Still marked both a milestone and a launch point in my practice. Light is an engine, and photography is a companion.
